  • John E. Guntly
    Veterinarian
“I had a family science background growing up and a strong attraction to the animal world. Veterinary medicine fulfilled the perfect complementary union for me. I love the diversity of patients and the fact that every day is different. I look at every patient in the context of its unique human-companion animal bond. Clients say I have a calming effect on the patients. I think they sense that I want to help them be free of discomfort and enjoy a longer, higher-quality life.”

'I moved to the area in 1985, shortly after graduating from the University of New Hampshire, with a major in Animal Science. Soon after, I began working at the Agawam Animal Hospital. I'm very passionate about my love of animals and enjoy helping clients manage their pet’s health. I have 2 adult children and live in CT with my husband , our dog, Dharma and 2 cats, Moe and Willoughby. When I'm away from my job, I pursue my interests in cooking, gardening, reading and camping with family/friends.'

'I have been a veterinary technician for 10 years. I attended Becker College. I have three cats, Ivy, Ren and Harold. I also have a yellow-bellied slider turtle named Bob. I have wanted to work with animals since I was a little kid. I’m glad I followed my dream!'
